Thank you for visiting our website. As Democratic leader of the Virginia House of Delegates, I am working to build a strong Democratic majority in the House of Delegates. Working with Governor Warner and Governor Kaine in the last six years, we have made record investments in public education, higher education, public safety and transportation.
But the Republican majority in the House has consistently stood in the way of that progress. They have opposed our investments in Virginia's schools and in our economy every step of the way. And, rather than investing in our Commonwealth's future, they have worked to advance an ideological, right wing agenda.
In 2007, your support helped elect four new Democrats to the House of Delegates: Capt. Joe Bouchard, Paul Nichols, Margie Vanderhye, and Joe Morrissey. I addition, Albert Pollard returned to the House of Delegates through a special election in February.
We are now just six seats away from gaining a strong majority that will stop the ideological agenda of the right wing Republican leadership and work in support of Virginia's future.
Our increased numbers and strength were evidenced this session when House Democrats stood firm in our opposition to a House Republican proposal that would have drastically reduced future funding for K-12 education. House Republicans were forced to abandon their faulty plan that would have jeopardized our children's educational future.
Please join me as we continue to work to elect responsible, moderate Democrats to the House of Delegates to continue our work to keep moving Virginia forward.
Sincerely,
Ward L. Armstrong
